Rumor Billboard Ad’s To Go Digital On Google

mapGoogle will not confirm but if the rumors are true this could be a new way for online advertisers.  Reports from both RedWriteWeb & CNet say that ads could soon cover billboards on Google Maps. 

The concept is interesting, just think about it.  Right now, if we were go onto Google Maps, we would pass millions of billboards, without dated opening movie dates, telling us what channel to watch for our local news, and which car dealership is nearby.  Now those billboards can be replaced with real time advertisements.  This would allow advertisers to be able to select any location on Google Maps for Google Ad’s. Retailers Gearing Up For Holiday’s With Social Media

twitterThe National Retail Federation (NRF) released a survey this morning which stated that more online retailers are gearing up for the upcoming holiday season, and will be using social media too attract consumers.  This comes after the NRF reported on Tuesday, that they anticipate holiday shoppers to spend about 3.2% less than they spent last year, averaging about $682 a person.

The new survey said that over 47% of online retailers who were polled stated they would be increasing the use of their social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, realizing that shoppers are continuously on those sites, and that using these tools could be more effective.  Just over 60% said they have created or beefed up the companies Facebook page, while 59% have done that with Twitter.  And 66% of online retailers have added and improved on their company blog. Take It From the Clowns…

When it comes to social media marketing, sometimes you’ve just got to listen to the clowns. Well, a very specific group of clowns anyway.

In particular, the mind-bendingly bendy group at Cirque du Soleil has once again thrown off convention and is currently leading the movement by established and successful organizations to move advertising online. While they haven’t completely abandoned traditional means of advertising, Soleil’s social media manager Jessica Berlin is spearheading the effort to make the high budget production known on forums such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and others.

In a recent panel discussion, Berlin divulged some key points about the benefits of moving advertising efforts online.
